On Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 12 to 4pm, Reach for the Stars of Berks County will be hosting the 6th Annual Buddy Walk® and Family Fun Day at Daniel Boone High School, in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, with the support of the Eastern Pennsylvania Down Syndrome Center; helping local individuals with Down Syndrome.
The Buddy Walk® was developed in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to celebrate Down syndrome awareness month in October. Its purpose is to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to raise funds for local programs and services as well as national advocacy initiatives. Reach for the Stars along with the Eastern Pennsylvania Down Syndrome Center strive to maximize the potential of all individual’s with Down syndrome and provide their families with the necessary support. There are more than 400,000 people living with Down syndrome in the United States. The passion and desire to bring the buddy walk to berks county is driven by our desire to reach as may individuals as we can through education, socialization and outreach. Our intention is to draw families and friends together to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome and remind them that they are supported, valued, and loved. We feel strongly about raising awareness among our community about individuals with Down syndrome and their amazing contributions to society. By working together we can make this event a success, in turn helping all of our buddies Reach for the Stars! With your generous contribution we can continue to spread awareness throughout our community. Your gift is tax deductible. We thank you for your support.
