As we head into 2015 we are excited to look back and see how far we have come. We are even more excited to look forward to all that is in store for this brand new year.
2014 was a big year for us all. We welcomed new families as well as having to see some of our families relocate to other states (I am having a hard time choosing words for that one because we never say goodbye to our families no matter how far away they go!). We continue to grow as Berks County becomes more and more aware that we are here to help, support and celebrate with new and existing families. Our organization and individual members have been featured in local media getting the word out about RFTS.
We are continuing to add more opportunities for our families to socialize and just have fun as well as support and learn from one another. This year our families relaxed together at playgrounds, parks and poolside. We were all very lucky to be treated to a special concert by the one and only Laurie Berkener! We participated in outreach to our county’s schools on World Down Syndrome Day, there was the first ever Revin’ Up For Down Syndrome Car Show and of course our annual Buddy Walk which was our biggest and most successful yet!
There is so much more coming for 2015! There will be events for World Down Syndrome Day (3/21!), our first ever 5K will be happening in May, the second annual Revin’ Up For Down Syndrome will be roaring into town in June and of course the Buddy Walk in October! Along with these events we will have plenty of opportunities for our families to learn, advocate, outreach and just plain have fun. We will be keeping you informed here on the blog, on our website and on our Facebook page about all of our upcoming events. We are continuing to grow and thrive and we thank all of your for your support and enthusiasm. Together we will make 2015 our best year yet!
